May the Fourth Be With You: LEGO Star Wars Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser 75367 Review

May the Fourth is a special time for Star Wars fans around the world. Also known as Star Wars Day. it’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate everything Star Wars. I can think of no better way to do so than to take a look at one of the most underrated LEGO Star Wars sets available: The Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser.

The Venator is a special ship to me. It’s the forerunner to the Imperial Star Destroyer and formed the backbone of the Republic Fleet during the Clone Wars. One of my favorite aspects of the Venator is how it slowly, over the course of the Clone Wars, became more and more “Star Destroyer-like”. Indeed, by the time we get to the end of the series most of the Republic has already become unsettlingly like the Empire.

While the LEGO Star Wars Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser is not as well-known as the LEGO Star Wars Imperial Star Destroyer, it is an appealing set piece worthy to join your fleet.

overview

The Venator is an exciting addition to the LEGO Star Wars lineup. It’s especially fitting for fans of the Clone Wars era. The set faithfully recreates the iconic Republic Attack Cruiser with intricate details and screen-accurate design. This set truly offers builders a unique and immersive experience.

The set contains approximately 5,374 pieces, providing builders with a challenging and rewarding build. It is recommended for ages 18 and up due to the complexity and size of the set. The instructions are organized and clearly laid out, so experiences builders younger than 18 could certainly give it a shot. Once assembled, the Venator is massive. It measures approximately 43 inches (109 cm) in length, making for an impressive display piece.

features & design
  • Accurate Replication: The set’s design is a faithful recreation of the Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser, featuring the signature red markings and gray hull seen in the Clone Wars series.
  • Minifigures: This set includes two minifigures that fans will love: Admiral Wullf Yularen and Captain Rex. These minifigures add to the display options of the set.
  • Display Value: The set is a massive display piece, measuring over 3.5 feet. It includes a display plaque with in-universe information about the Venator-Class. This plaque also serves as the display base for the minifigures.

As is usual with many of these LEGO Star Wars display pieces, there are plenty of aftermarket light kits that can be added. This not only improves the already impressive display value, but in the case of these large star cruisers it adds a greater degree of accuracy. The set looks great as is, and these lights are purely optional. However, in this case it’s well worth the money to grab one.

building experience

The Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser offers a challenging and engaging build for experienced LEGO builders. The instruction manual is clear and detailed, which has come to be expected from LEGO. The set’s complexity and high piece count make it an excellent project for LEGO fans looking for an in-depth build. As usual, the pieces are divided into numbered bags. A build this size requires this, as it will likely take more than a single session to complete the Venator.

The finished model is sturdy and stable. This eases the mind when the build is finished and the time comes to move it to its display location. Its size and level of detail make it a standout piece in any LEGO Star Wars collection.

pros & cons

Pros

  • Stunning Design: The set is a stunning and highly detailed replica of the Republic Attack Cruiser, capturing its iconic design perfectly.
  • Minifigures: Fans will appreciate the inclusion of unique minifigures Admiral Wullf Yularen and Captain Rex (my favorite clone).
  • Challenging Build: With its complex design and high piece count, the set offers a rewarding building experience for experienced LEGO builders.
  • Display: The set serves as a truly striking display piece. Whether you get LED lights for it or not, it will stand out in your collection.

Cons

  • Price: The set’s price point is on the higher side, making it a potential investment for some fans.
  • Complexity: While the complexity of the set is a pro for experienced builders, it may be overwhelming for those who are younger or new to LEGO.
  • Space: The large size of the completed model requires significant display space, which may be a challenge for some collectors.
  • Playability: The finished model is intended to be a display piece and doesn’t have many playable features that younger fans might find enjoyable. For younger fans something like the First Order Star Destroyer may be a better fit.
conclusion

The LEGO Star Wars Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser 75367 is a must-have for any fan of LEGO Star Wars. Its authentic design, intricate details, and exclusive minifigures make it a standout set in the LEGO Star Wars collection.
